Pupils’ “royal” performance impresses care home residents

PRIMARY school pupils put on a performance “fit for royalty” for care home residents and those with learning disabilities in Skelmersdale care home.

The Key Stage 2 pupils from Delph Side Community Primary School invited elderly residents from Aaron Crest Care Home, on Tanhouse Road.

They were joined by Midstream (West Lancs) special needs service users for the garden party event.

A marque was erected in the school’s garden for the occasion, when year 3 to 6 pupils performed songs from hit musicals Grease, Annie and Frozen, among others.

The visitors were treated to freshly made sandwiches, scones and refreshments, as they clapped, cheered and sang along.

Alison Moore, activities coordinator at Aaron Crest Care Home, said: “What an amazing event the school put on for us.

“The marque and performance from the pupils was fit for royalty.”

Ben Gardner, a volunteer worker at the home, said: “This event had just made my whole year. Seeing how much the residents enjoyed themselves is wonderful to see.”

Liz Ormerod, the head teacher at Delph Side Community Primary School, said: “To create an event such as this is so rewarding.

“It is our objective to make a difference by bringing communities together whilst giving the best life experiences to our children.”
