Home Press Releases Chesterfield care home celebrates National Storytelling Week
CHESTERFIELD care home residents took a trip to the library to stock up on books as part of National Storytelling Week.
Barnfield Care Home Holmewood took their residents to Holmewood Library to pick up some of their favourite fiction and non-fiction novels and audio books.
The visit was organised to mark the 18th National Storytelling Week.
The home’s day trips help encourage social interaction and reduce feelings of boredom or loneliness among the residents, according to home manager Alison Riley.
She said: “Reading and listening to audio books also gets the residents chatting and discussing the stories, plotlines and photos.
“We try to keep the residents as active as possible, with events and activities in the home and day trips out, such as the visit to Holmewood Library as part of National Storytelling Week.”
