LABRADOR Ralph has been visiting a Stockton-on-Tees care home as part of pet therapy sessions.
He dropped in to see those living at The Beeches Care Home, on Green Lane.
The visit was organised by Wag and Company North East Friendship Dogs, which works with professionally assessed volunteers and their dogs.
The sessions are designed to provide the benefits of pet ownership to the elderly – such as companionship, sociability and reduce stress and anxiety.
Residents at the home enjoyed meeting Ralph for the first time, with ongoing visits planned for the future.
Elsie Crackett said: “What a sweetheart. I’d like to keep him here with me.”
Ellie Farmer, activities coordinator at The Beeches Care Home, said: “Ralph has a lovely, gentle nature, which has a calming effect on the residents who live with dementia and don’t want to socialise.
“We’d like to thank Wag and Company as well as Ralph’s owner for paying us a visit. We look forward to seeing them next time.”
