ROTHERHAM’s Broadacres Care Home has been recruiting volunteers at one of the town’s busiest events of the year.

The Parkgate-based care home set up a stall at the Rotherham Show 2023 – which usually attracts around 70,000 people – for the two day event.

Activities coordinator Pat Brewer handed out leaflets and goodie bags to passersby – some of whom joked “We’re not passed it yet!”.

She said: “We handed out all our goodie bags and met some lovely people along the way.

“While visitors may not have been looking for a care home for themselves, we had lots of community members coming over for a chat, and some enquiries about people volunteering.”

Lyndsey Brewer, home manager at Broadacres Care Home, said: “The Rotherham Show was lovely opportunity to get out into the local community and meet people. It was a great celebration of our city.

“We had hoped to take a couple of residents but, with it being very hot, the ladies and gents decided to stay at Broadacres, where it was nice and cool.

“We had some visitors making jokes about not being “passed it just yet!” but there was still a lot of interest in our services.

“Thanks so much to the Rotherham Show team for giving us the opportunity to showcase our care home.”

The Rotherham Show 2023 included a packed programme of music, dance, theatre, and circus, places for children to play, live performances, flower displays, bakes and other tasty treats.
