FRIENDSHIP cards have been flying between care homes and nurseries across Merseyside.

National Send A Card To A Friend Day saw an intergenerational exchange of handmade cards between the region’s young and elderly.

Residents at Aaron Grange Care Home, in Huyton, near Liverpool, received cards from children at Playmates Nursery & Preschool, in Widnes.

The two to three year old youngsters made the cards at nursery before visiting the home to hand deliver them.

The residents also made cards for the children, as well as other nurseries and schools in the area.

They also wrote cards to their friends living in the home, alongside other Hill Care homes, including Halton View Care Home, in Widnes, Simonsfield Care Home, in Runcorn, Aaron Crest Care Home, in Skelmersdale, and Aaron Court Care Home, in Ellesmere Port.

Clare Richards, home manager at Aaron Grange Care Home, said: “The residents have thoroughly enjoyed getting creative while making their friendship cards.

“It was lovely of the nursery children to make cards for the residents as well. They always bring so much energy and joy into the home.

“The exchange of cards across Merseyside has been fantastic and shows what a strong community spirit there is.”
