A CARE home worker inspired by his blind and deaf grandmother has taken the top job at a Chester-le-Street care home.

Chris Hogan-Hind was promoted to home manager at Pelton Grange Care Home, on Front Street, Pelton, where he was previously deputy manager for two years.

He said: “I have always been very passionate about supporting and enhancing the lives of the older generation, having lived with my grandmother who is blind and deaf when growing up.

“My motivation derived from this as I wish to ensure everyone else’s grandparents get the level of care that I would expect for my own.”

The father-of-two started working in healthcare in 2010 and qualified as a social worker from Northumbria University in 2013.

He has worked at two previous care homes, rising to the position of senior carer, before joining Pelton Grange in March 2016 as deputy manager.

He added: “I am very excited to be the new home manager of Pelton Grange.

“I am honoured to be at the helm of the team and look forward to further enhancing the service to ensure that the residents in our care receive the best possible level of care and support.”
