A THIRTY year veteran of the care sector has retired after leading a successful care home in Stockton-on-Tees.

Christine Reason brought her career to a close at the end of July, when staff, residents, families and friends of the home marked the occasion with a party.

Chris was home manager at Mandale House Care Home, on Acklam Road, Thornaby, for over six years.

She started her career as a nursing home carer but handed in her notice after just two weeks. While working her six-week notice period she changed her mind.

“I didn’t give it enough time initially and I began to love my job,” Chris said. “I found providing care was very rewarding and gave me a great sense of accomplishment.”

Chris, who lives in Guisborough, eventually moved into home care as a manager and then returned to the care home sector when she joined the Hill Care Group.

She retires at the age of 67 to spend time with her husband and their family.

She added: “I am proud of my time as home manager of Mandale House Care Home. But mostly I’m proud of our residents and their families knowing their loved ones are safe and happy.”

Beth Stevenson, regional manager for the Hill Care Group, which operates the care home, said: “To say goodbye and wish Chris luck in her retirement, the home held a surprise celebration on Friday, 28th July.

“We invited all those who’ve been a part of this home over the years, including former friends and family of past residents who wanted to wish Chris well.

“There was drinks and buffet as well as entertainment throughout the afternoon. We were so pleased to see so many wishing Chris well.”
