Pelton Grange Care Home wing named after local artist

By 6th September, 2017 Press Releases No Comments

CHESTER-LE-STREET artist George Levitt will have a wing at Pelton Grange Care Home named after him in thanks for his ongoing support.

The painter and photographer will hold an exhibition at the home, on Front Street, Pelton, from 1pm on 8th September to mark the occasion.

He has donated more than a dozen works to the home over the years, including a painting of the main entrance, and is a regular visitor.

George is a founder member of the Chester-Le-Street Art Society and has previously exhibited at galleries across the North East, including the DLI in Durham, Shipley Art Gallery in Gateshead, and Hatton Gallery in Newcastle, among others.

Les Burnett, home manager at Pelton Grange Care Home, said: “George has been a long-term friend of the care home and we wanted to thank him for his many donations over the years.

“He’s a fabulous painter and his works adorn many of the walls of the home, which the residents and staff enjoy every day.

“The George Levitt wing has been named as a thank you and we’re looking forward to hosting an exhibition of his work to mark this special occasion.

“We hope as many local residents and friends of the home will come along as possible.

“We’ll have refreshments available to visitors, you’ll be able to peruse the paintings, as well as chat with George and our residents.”
