“The Laurels” is a Grade II listed building, which was built in 1869 for Mr Jackson of the Spear and Jackson firm. At present, there are 34 bedrooms in the Laurels, of which four are double rooms. These rooms all have washbasins. The bedrooms vary in size and layout. All have a Nurse Call Unit, a TV point and 2 electric sockets. “The Laurels” has two assisted shower rooms and two assisted bathrooms. There are two large sitting rooms (one on each floor), a separate dining room, a “Quiet Room” and an attractive hall. A lift is installed between the ground and first floors.
“The Limes” building was completed in 1996 and has 48 bedrooms (two of which are double). Each bedroom has an en-suite (with wash basin and toilet) and those on the ground and first floors have their own shower. As in the "Laurels", all bedrooms in the Limes have a Nurse Call, a TV point and 2 electric sockets. There are three large assisted bathrooms. A large lift runs from the basement (which houses the O.T kitchen and the gymnasium) to the other three floors. The large communal rooms are situated on the ground floor. These include 2 sitting rooms, a dining room and a "Quiet Room. Many people, though, choose to sit in the large reception area.
The grounds of Kersal Mount contain "The Lawns" complex, which is a privately owned sheltered development for the over 60's. These residents have the exclusive use of some of the grounds but there is a large sheltered garden and courtyard reserved for the residents of the care home.
